Our Herd Breeding Philosophy
All of our goats are ADGA registered, vaccinated yearly, copper bolused several times a year, and wormed as needed. Our herd name is Oak Grove Goats because we live on 45 beautiful acres of mixed Oak and Fir trees with a mix of forest and pasture. We aim to breed high quality Nubian goats with an emphasis on high production, excellent dairy character, and excellent conformation. We are members of the American Dairy Goat Association and our herd is closed and negative for CL, CAE, and Johnes. When I initially started to acquire Nubians my intent was to get milk similiar to the Nigerian milk in order to have more milk for the Nigerians when I was bottle feeding. But then I got some bottle Nubians and I fell in love with their gentle temperment and their little humming and I was hooked just like I was with the Nigerian Dwarfs when I first started breeding those. So then my goal became to create a small herd of very high production with some variation in color, but always keeping production in mind first.
